PETALING JAYA: Chip assembly and testing firm Inari Amertron Bhd’s results have received mixed reactions from analysts, but demand for its radio-frequency (RF) unit is expected to be healthy going into next year.

CGS-CIMB Research said in a report that the company’s first quarter ended Sept 30, 2022 (1Q22) core net profit was in line with its and consensus’ expectations at 27% and 24% of full-year forecasts.

“We expect Inari to maintain a healthy utilisation rate in 2Q22, especially for the RF division, driven by higher content value from new model launches,” it told clients in a report.

The research house noted that 1Q22 core net profit fell 3% year-on-year, while revenue fell 12.6% due to lower utilisation from all divisions including RF, generic and optoelectronics, whose revenue dropped by 14%, 10% and 13%, respectively.

Inari declared a 2.6 sen dividend per share for the period under review, in line with CGS-CIMB Research’s expectations.

Kenanga Research in its report, meanwhile, noted that Inari’s 1Q22 net profit represented 25% and 24% of its forecast and the consensus estimate, respectively.

“However, we deem the results to be below expectations given that 1Q22 should typically exhibit stronger earnings in conjunction with the start of the new US smartphone launch cycle,” it told clients.

It said it expects the subsequent quarter’s performance to remain muted owing to the challenging macro environment.
